When choosing a topic for your NHD project, here are some questions to consider:

• What are some subjects you're interested in?  You can research any type of history for your project: Civil Rights history, sports history, history of science and engineering, music history, military history, etc.  How does history intersect with your hobbies or personal interests?
• Think about the resources you have nearby.  Are there local museums or archives with information on your topic?   Do you have family or members of your community you can interview?  Do your local librarians have any suggestions?
• How does your topic connect to the annual theme?
• Can you find both primary and secondary sources about your topic?
• What type of project do you want to create?  Will this topic fit well with the format you want to use?
